I thought it would be fun to try an new type of subscription box–one for people who love to read–the LitLoveBox.
From the website: LitLoveBox was created for a desire of a bookish subscription box full of things that have a use. While other boxes include very nice decorative items, the creator of LitLoveBox really prefers items that can be used. Most boxes will contain candles, notebooks, bags, shirts, scarves, mugs and other items that can be used around your house and in your life. The box allows you to embrace your Love for Lit (see what we did there?!) in your daily life.
This particular box theme for October is “spooky.” There were several items that I was happy to receive.
First–the book bag. “Something Wicked This Way Comes” is a quote from Macbeth and is great for this time of year. The script looks fantastic and rather spooky.
And what is a book bag without a book to fill it? This box includes The Bloodless Crown by Nikki Allegretti.
Blurb: Evelina always knew magic. Ever since she was a little girl she was able to heal wounds and broken bones without breaking a sweat, a healer, just like her mother. Working in the high school from which she graduated presented her with the perfect opportunity to use her gift to help people. Her peaceful life is interrupted when her former college roommate arrives back in town with a dark shadow in tow. As time passed, Evelina would realize that her magic can be used for more than fixing sprained ankles and would lead her down a path that would shape the rest of her life.
I’m adding this to my TBR pile!
Next is a lined notebook with the Edgar Allen Poe “Nevermore” quotation and Raven symbol on the cover. I use these types of notebooks all of the time. They are perfect for keeping next to the computer and taking story notes.
I used to prefer notebooks without the ring binders, but I find those difficult to work with now. I like the ones with the rings because they can lay flat when you write.
The Pumkin King candle is soy based and smells fantastic. It is inspired by A Nightmare Before Christmas.
I haven’t tried the The Vampire Bite yet. (I have way too many lip balms open right now!) It is sold on Etsy.
The overall retail value of the October box is valued at $65 and it sells for $35.
I found it to be worth the money because I will use all of the items. In fact, I needed a notebook and had been looking for one I liked on Amazon, so this arrived at exactly the right time!
Disclaimer: This is not sponsored. I purchased all of the items.
So what type of subscription boxes have you tried? Do you only focus on beauty boxes, or are you interested in branching out to different themes? Let me know in the comments below!
Take a peek at Starter Zone, the first book of my new YA/LitRPG series, The Revelation Chronicles.
When hydrologists inscribe the consciousness of a human mind onto a single drop of water, a Revelation sweeps the land. The wealthy race to upload their minds into self-contained virtual realities nicknamed Aquariums. In these containers people achieve every hope, dream, and desire. But governments wage war for control of the technology. Terrorist attacks cause massive destruction. The Aquariums fail. Inscribed human minds leech into the water cycle, wreaking havoc.
Street gangs rule the cities in the three years since the fall of civilization. Sixteen-year-old Cami and her younger sister Alby struggle to survive. Every drop of untreated water puts their lives in peril. Caught and imprisoned by soldiers who plan to sell them into slavery, Cami will do anything to escape and rescue her sister. Even if it means leaving the real word for a life in the realms, a new game-like reality created by the hydrologists for the chosen few.
But life in the realms isn’t as simple as it seems. Magic, combat, gear scores, quests, and dungeons are all puzzles to be solved as the sisters navigate their new surroundings. And they encounter more dangerous enemies than any they faced in the real world.
Time to play the game.
